Day 2: 62 miles from Wadebridge to Barnstaple

Day 2 completed successfully!

Another early start on our way before 9 am. All aches and pains from yesterday successfully treated - great idea Locky to treat your sore hamstrings with ice at the pub!

Not quite as hilly as yesterday, but it did rain all afternoon and we were cycling into the wind. A good day's riding though and we managed to pretty much stay together and all the stops worked well. Mugs are now available for tea stops although somebody has stolen all the handles! hopefully we will have enough spoons tomorrow....

The only mishap today was Kieron falling off at 123 miles. We'll put the winner's details on tomorrow. Good thing is no damage done although he has scratched his bike - hopefully he will be over the trauma tomorrow.

Spanner of the day has been awarded to Vince for leaving the Van unlocked last night - thanks to Stewart's security check on the way back from the pub nothing has been stolen!

Heartfelt thanks go to Simon and Sam, friends of the Johnsons who have laid on a lavish meal for us tonight. It is much appreciated.

Day 1: 27 Jun 65 miles to Wadebridge/Bodmin

Apologies for not updating the blog sooner, this is due to the lack of interweb access in Cornwall> Thankfully they now have roads which made the first day a little easier.

Day 1 is successfully completed!

65 miles down 935 to go!

The Mishap Mile* firstly concerned David, he apparently de-railed his chain at the bottom of a long very steep hill - on MILE 32
Adam then had a puncture 3/4 of a mile from the finish point.
The team has voted and David's mishap is the winner which makes the Day 1 winner "Twiggy" - for choosing this distance ... prizes drawn at end of the road!

We would like to pay tribute to our support team, Compo, Foggy and Clegg. They managed to miss our first rendez vous leaving us ravenous. They were then late for our lunch stop. The afternoon stop was an improvement although they had no milk for the tea, no mugs and nothing to light the gas stove with!

Thanks from us all to Julia for updating the blog. Thanks also to Brenda, Linda and Anita at the Boscastle Youth Hostel - a fantastic place to stay.

*Disaster Mile - £2 donated per mile chosen between one and one thousand for predicted gremlins and mishaps
